What are the precautions for storage and use of purified terephthalic acid?

2024-09-30

We all know that the downstream industry of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) is the chemical fiber industry. It is the raw material for making polyester. It can also be used as the raw material of plasticizer and dye intermediate. So, do you know what precautions are there for storage and use of purified terephthalic acid?

Pure terephthalic acid is made from xylene as raw material. Crude terephthalic acid is obtained by liquid phase oxidation. Purified terephthalic acid is finally made by pulping, hydrogenation, refining, crystallization and drying.

Purified terephthalic acid packaging and storage requirements:

1. Bag products are packaged with inner lining film, and the net weight of each bag of product is 1000±2 kg. The name, address, trademark, product name, grade, batch number, net weight and standard code of the manufacturer must be indicated on the packaging.

2. Stainless steel tank trucks can also be used for transportation. Before loading, check whether the tank truck is clean and dry. During transportation, attention should be paid to fire prevention, moisture prevention and anti-static.

3. During transportation, it should be handled with care to avoid damage to the packaging; during loading and unloading, the loading speed should be strictly controlled to avoid the occurrence of static electricity. Store in a cool, ventilated, dry warehouse, away from fire and heat sources, isolated from oxidants, acid and alkali substances, avoid sun and rain, and strictly prohibit open-air stacking.

Precautions for the use of purified terephthalic acid: It is a low-toxic substance that can irritate the skin and mucous membranes to a certain extent. People with allergies will develop rashes and bronchitis if they touch the product. The maximum allowable concentration in the atmosphere is 0.1 mg per cubic meter. And the operator must wear protective equipment.
